two sisters
two cameras
three cultures

one world, seen through their eyes

bio

Twins Behind the Lens is a family photography project led by two young sisters growing up between Kurdish, Chinese and British cultures. Through their own cameras, they discover the world one face, one encounter and one small detail at a time.

Drawn to portraits, everyday street life and the quiet poetry of ordinary moments, they explore childhood, humanity, cultural differences and the things that bring us together. Their photographs offer a glimpse of the world through young, curious eyes, where a stranger can become a story, a small gesture can reveal kindness, and an ordinary moment can hold something extraordinary.

Guided by their dad, British Kurdish artist and photographer Gaylan Nazhad, the project follows their growing curiosity about people, places, languages and traditions. It is a journey of seeing, feeling and understanding, shaped by three cultural roots and two individual perspectives.

At its heart, Twins Behind the Lens is about discovering that the world is bigger than ourselves, yet connected by the simplest things: kindness, curiosity and our shared humanity.
