The Phone Call explores the fragile space between communication and misunderstanding when a mental health patient reaches out for help. Through a single, tense exchange, the film reveals how difficult it can be to grasp another person’s reality, especially when shaped by distress or the early edge of illness.

The film was funded by the British Psychological Society through its Qualitative Methods in Psychology section and by the University of Nottingham. It was created by director and producer Gaylan Nazhad in collaboration with Professor Dr Victoria Tischler.
