Chasing followers and likes is a game you don’t need to play. Real impact comes from meaningful connections, authentic storytelling, and work that truly reflects you.

Do we really need likes and followers to validate our photography? Social media makes it easy to measure success by numbers, but do they truly reflect the value of our work or are we just chasing fame, attention, and influence?
Instant feedback from likes and follows can feel satisfying, but let’s be honest, it’s all a bit silly. Like money, we always want more. But will a million followers or endless likes really make us happier? Perhaps the true joy comes from sharing photos that matter to us, and seeing the impact they have on a few people who truly appreciate them.
The key is to focus on your own vision, not the numbers. Create work that is authentic, meaningful, and true to yourself. Let your photography tell your story, rather than letting social metrics define it.
Set your own rules for photography, what counts as success, what moves you, what sparks your creativity. Whether it’s capturing fleeting emotion, the beauty of nature, or a story that needs to be told, let your passion guide your work.
And when it comes to social media, don’t get swept up in comparison or endless scrolling. Use it intentionally: to share your vision, connect with like-minded people, and seek inspiration. Numbers don’t define your worth; creativity and authenticity do.
True fulfilment in photography and in life come from setting your own standards and staying true to your vision. When you refuse to play by the rules of social media, you’ve already won the game.
Followers fade and numbers lie, but the photograph that’s true will always remain.
Focus on the real, not the count!
